As a LCF student, I always have to visit the John Princes Street campus for the library although it's not the campus for my course. The Fashion Space Gallery there always brings us interesting exhibitions from the industry. I love the previous Yohji Yamamoto's one, Yohji Yamamoto at work, very much and I believe the recent one will be a worth exhibition for fashion students. New Fashion: Interventions in Materials & Techniques exhibition brings you 8 new emerging designers for their creativity of materials using, visual impact and craftsmanship.
The 8 uncomers are Eleanor Amoroso, womenswear graduate from Westminster University, Felicity Brown, a Royal College of Art graduate who is also an ex NEWGEN winner, Una Burke, a accessories designer from London College of Fashion who stands out with her avant-garde leather pieces, Fyodor Golan, Fashion Fringe winner with perfect pattern cutting techniques and also Zyanya Keizer, Derek Lawlor, Chi Chi Luo and Nicola Morgan. The selection of the garment are both graduate and recent collection which gives a great highlight of their career.
Fyodor Golan's scar inspired leather dress from their debut collection is one of my favourite in the exhibition.
Una Burke's graduation collection is totally inspirational. after the development for few seasons, Una's work became more wearable and she also creates a hand bag range for her S/S 2012 collection.
