Kirsty Ward is a Central St Martins graduate in 2008. Her iconic pieces are all the hand-made exaggerated jewellery. Her Selfridges window drew my attention in January and I was so excited to see her in the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Ones to Watch show. It was funny that i met her in the showroom during the fashion week and finally did this interview with her for Marie Claire Hong Kong. How do you describe the style of your brand? Experimental yet wearable with bold jewellery How does your inspiration usually come from? Generally from a bad taste/mundane scenario How did you feel when Selfridges tells you they would like to display your collection in their window? Well the first feeling was excitement then the realisation of how many people could actually view my work! Who is your favourite designer? Does he/she inspire you? There's loads of amazing designers out there but I love looking at margiela pieces inside and out. How do you feel the fashion industry today? the industry is Sometimes exciting sometimes safe and boring Are there any difficulties when you run your brand? The main difficultly for my young brand is to get the cash flowing in the right direction and not to grow too quickly as I don't want to compromise too much at this point How do you want your brand to be in a few years? Still growing and gaining loyal customers who love to wear my work As her second collection, Kirsty continues her exploration of materials and structure. The Jewellery is the most important part of the collection and they are being a part of the garment and a accessory at the same time. The inspiration of the collection is from bizarre chairs and eccentric women. My favourite of the collection is all the necklaces!!! They are amazing and you can be a standout very easily when you are wearing them. I look forward to Kirty's new collection and really wanna see how she develops her iconic jewellery. Special thanks Kenny Wang from Vauxhall Fashion Scout To know more about Kirsty Ward, please visit her website To view her Selfridges' window, please click here To shop her S/S 2011 collection, please visit Young British Designers And I got a video of the show as well.
